MacBook Air 2019 | No Game Changer | Worst Things?

by Hardik Malhotra

Apple is itself known for their quality but here they compromised the quality in MacBook Air 2019.

Last fall, Apple updated the MacBook Air 2019 ,which comes with a smaller body, sharper Retina display, much large trackpad than before and with Touch ID.

Under-Powered MacBook Air 2019 Processor

Latest MacBook Air’s dual-core processor it’s still underpowered compared to quad-core processors of MacBook Pro 13 Inch or windows laptops. Here there is no extra-ordinary change in the exterior of of the MacBook Air 2019, it retains same as its predecessors and comes in same finishes with sturdy aluminum wedge design.

No SD-Card Slot In MacBook Air 2019

MacBook Air 2019 doesn’t come with a SD Card slot that previously came with pre-Retina MacBook Air, hope so this will also be fixed in upcoming future MacBooks.

Display Not Good-Enough In MacBook Air 2019

Apple Macbook Air 2019 Display

Now here we are going to talk about it’s display, it might be disappointing that after the teardown report it was realized that the display of MacBook Air 2019 display doesn’t have enough good brightness as compared to MacBook Pro 13 Inch but still may be not much will bother about this.

Built Quality Of Keyboard Is Not Much Satisfying

Apple MacBook Air 2019 Keyboard Built Quality

Let’s also talk about it’s keyboard design: As seen that laptop have the same butterfly keyboard which is quite clackety-clack which is mainly annoying while sitting in meeting, conference or any other public place. But still it is in a hope that Apple might switch their butterfly keyboard with a new scissors mechanism.

Performance

Now here is a reason for talking about it’s performance: it’s good enough but not blistering fast.

The new MacBook Air 2019 is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 (Y-series) processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz and Intel UHD Graphics 617 and a base of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage. These are the same specifications as of MacBook Air 2018, which means it should perform more or less the same. As per the Geekbench 4 reports, it revealed a different story that based on an average of three consecutive tests, the MacBook Air scored 4,113 on on single-core and 7,775 on multi-core.  It’s all the more disappointing when Windows laptops in the Air’s price tag have beefier performance.

Battery Life

Here there is not a huge difference in the battery life it’s so-so like before, MacBooks. You could get 5-7 battery hours while working officially, but if you push it more harder with more tasks its not pretty much good compared to MacBook Pre-Retina battery champ which gave consistently battery life of 6-7 Hours.

SSD Storage Speed Very Disappointing

MacBook’s Air SSD is storage reportedly has slower read and write speeds compared to previous 2018 MacBook’s model. You might, however, notice while transferring large amounts of data, when seconds add up to minutes.

Conclusion

For students, the MacBook Air is a good choice and affordable ($999 with an education discount) untill and unless you need the horsepower (then get a MacBook Pro), the MacBook Air does the job. It’s not knock-your-socks off incredible like the pre-Retina MacBook Air was, but it’s fine.

We are not claiming Apple as bad, this post is only for advice towards it’s new product.
