Probably next month, Reliance Jio is commercially launching its new broadband service known as Reliance Jio GigaFiber.
After some good trials in selected cities, Reliance Jio is commercially launching their new broadband service on August 12. Previously it was announced last year at the Reliance industries annual general meeting. Initially the service was proclaimed to launch in 1,100 cities simultaneously. The company’s service would offer internet speed of up to one gigabyte per second (Gbps) and give access to additional services(smart home automation, landline etc).
Under their Limited preview offer, they are offering their users free ultra-high speed internet up to 100 Mbps & complementary access to a host of Jio’s premium apps. In case, any user consumes his/her data quota they can continue to enjoy Jio’s high speed internet services by performing a complementary data top-up of 40 GB via My Jio app or by www.jio.com. In this offer, there are no installation charges levied but there is a refundable security deposit of Rs. 2,500 for their ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway). This amount is to be paid through Debit card, Credit card, Jio Money or Paytm.
Though there’s no confirmation about Reliance Jio GigaFiber data plans, it’s expected that Reliance to launch it’s home broadband service base package at around Rs. 500 per month. However, it’s expected that the base plan would not offer claimed internet speed of up to 1 Gbps as it’s company’s premium plans.

During its GigaFiber announcement, the company also stated that it would also support additional services, including Jio’s GigaTV, landline, home automation services. The GigaTV set-top-box would offer internet-based digital content services, & would give access to Jio’s app suite. The set-top-box would also support a video calling feature which would give easy access to the users to make video calls from their televisions. The GigaTV remote would be available with the feature of voice command(like Amazon’s Fire Stick).
Besides, it all, the company also announced their plans for home automation products such as security cameras and other voice enabled automation products. Probably, there are chances that these products will be launched alongside the GigaFiber launch.
Hopefully, the next update will be more exciting.
